The short version

Use Emails for workspace-level messages, or a hub Message Center for project-scoped threads. Click Compose to start an email, or open a thread to reply, reply all, or forward.

Visualist lets you write to clients from Emails or from a hub Message Center. This article covers composing a new email, replying, replying to everyone, and forwarding.

Before you start

You need a connected email account and a Core or Growth plan before you can write an email. If you have not connected an account yet, see How do I connect my email inbox to Visualist?.

Composing and replying are available on Core and Growth. A connected Free or Starter account sees Try Core to compose; selecting it opens the Core upgrade flow. Connecting Gmail is separate from writing access. From a disconnected Compose path, Visualist prompts you to connect Gmail first.

Send a new email

  1. Open Emails or a Message Center. Open Emails for workspace-level mail, or open a hub Message Center if the conversation belongs with that project.
  2. Start a new email. Click Compose. The compose window opens with From, To, Cc, and Bcc fields and a subject line.
  3. Add recipients. Type an address into the To field and press enter to add it as a chip. Add more recipients with a comma or space. Use Cc and Bcc if you need them.
  4. Write your message. Add a subject and write your message in the body. You can format text, add links, and attach files.
  5. Send it. Click Send. Visualist confirms with Sent message, and the email stays in the place where you composed it.

Reply, reply all, and forward

Open any message in Emails or a hub Message Center to read the full thread. Three actions sit at the bottom of the thread:

  • Reply answers the sender only. The subject becomes Re: followed by the original subject.
  • Reply all answers the sender and everyone else on the thread. Anyone in the original Cc stays on Cc.
  • Forward sends the message on to someone new. The subject becomes Fwd: followed by the original subject, and you choose the recipients.
Good to know

Messages composed from Emails remain account-level. Messages composed from a hub Message Center stay with that hub, so replies sit next to the project work. If you want to write a message now but send it later, save it as a draft or schedule the send. See How do I schedule an email to send later?.
