How do I erase an object from a photo?
The short version
Select an image in Canvas and choose Eraser to open Focus mode. Adjust Brush size, paint over the object, then select Erase with Vai to create a new image.
Eraser removes an object you no longer want in a photo and fills in the space behind it. It is one of the Magic tools inside the Canvas editor.
Erase an object
- Open the image in Canvas. Open the design or image you want to edit in
Canvas. - Select the image. Click the image on the canvas so its tools appear in the toolbar.
- Choose Eraser. Pick
Eraserfrom the toolbar to open Focus mode. - Brush over the object. Adjust
Brush size, then paint a mask over the object you want gone. UseClear allto remove the full mask orRemove brushed areato correct part of it. - Erase with Vai. Select
Erase with Vaito fill the masked area on a new image.
Good to know
Eraser creates a new image, so your original photo stays untouched in your library. The tool is powered by AI and uses credits, which are included with every plan. Results can vary, so you can mask again and run it a second time for a cleaner fill.
