How do I comment on a design in Canvas?

Comments let you and your collaborators talk about a design right where the work is, instead of in a separate email thread. This article covers adding a comment, replying, and where comments live.

Add a comment

1. Open the Comments tool. In the Canvas toolbar, click Comments. The Comments panel opens and the comment tool turns on.
2. Place a comment. Click a spot on the canvas, or on a specific image, to start a comment there.
3. Write it. Type your note in the What do you think? field. You can Mention someone to tag a teammate, add emoji, or record a voice or video note.
4. Post it. Send the comment. It appears in the Comments panel for everyone with access to the design.

Reply and react

Open any comment in the panel to see its Thread. Add a reply in the Add a reply field, or react with an emoji. Replies stay grouped under the original comment, so a conversation about one image does not get lost.

Send someone to the exact feedback

The browser URL follows the feedback you have open. It records whether the Comments panel is open, which thread you selected, and which reply you are viewing. The same behavior works when you open comments on a file.

1. Open the feedback. Open Comments, then select the thread or reply you want someone to see.
2. Copy the browser URL. Copy the address from your browser and send it to a collaborator who can access the design or file.
3. Open the link. The design or file reopens with the same Comments panel, thread, or reply selected. Browser Back and Forward move through the feedback you opened.

An unsaved comment does not appear in the URL. Post it first, then copy the browser address.
