How do I delete and restore files?
Open a file, choose Move to bin, and confirm. The file goes to the bin instead of disappearing, and you have a window to restore it that depends on your plan. You can also archive a file to set it aside without deleting it.
Deleting a file in Visualist is reversible. Files go to the bin first, so a mistake is easy to undo, and you can archive a file when you want it out of the way but not gone.
Move a file to the bin
- Open the file. From your library, open the file you want to remove.
- Move it to the bin. Open the file menu and choose
Move to bin. - Confirm. You will see
Move this image to bin?with a note telling you how long you have to restore it. ChooseConfirm.
If you delete a folder, Visualist moves the folder and everything inside it to the bin together, and the same restore window applies.
How long you can restore
A deleted file stays in the bin for a window that depends on your plan, then it is removed permanently:
- Free: 7 days
- Starter: 30 days
- Core: 6 months
- Growth: 12 months
To bring a file back, open the bin within that window and restore it. After the window passes, the file is gone for good. For the full restore flow, see How do I restore something from the bin?.
You can clear the bin yourself with Empty bin now. This deletes everything in the bin immediately, and you will be asked to confirm with I'm sure because it cannot be undone.
Archive instead of delete
If you want a file out of your main view but not deleted, choose Archive from the file menu instead. Archiving sets the file aside, and you can restore it later whenever you need it.
